Five beginner mistakes

Each one is avoidable, and each one is common enough to be predictable.

Be clear about the risk. Most people who try trading lose money. Prices move against you often, and no lesson, signal or strategy changes that. Never trade with money you need for rent, food or debt. Everything on this site is educational — it is not investment advice.

Questions people ask

Are you a broker?

No. TradeStart is an educational site. We do not hold your money, we do not execute trades and we do not manage accounts. When you are ready to practise on a live platform, we link you to a third-party broker — and we may receive a commission if you sign up there.

Do I need money to start?

No. The lessons and the simulator here are free. The demo account on the platform we link to comes with $10,000 in virtual funds and needs no deposit.

How much do I need to trade for real?

On the platform we link to, deposits start at $5 and individual trades start at $1. That is deliberately low so you can start small — not a reason to skip the demo.

Can I do this from my phone?

Yes. The lessons, the simulator and the trading platform all work in a mobile browser. No app is required.

Will I make money?

Nobody can honestly tell you that, and anyone who does is selling something. Most beginners lose. What we can say is that the ones who last tend to start on a demo account, risk small amounts, and stop after a losing streak instead of doubling down.
